Trezor® Guide — Official Setup Guide® | Trezor.io/Start

Step-by-step instructions to safely initialize your Trezor device, secure your recovery phrase, and start managing cryptocurrency with confidence.

Getting Started with Trezor

Welcome to the official Trezor setup guide. Your Trezor hardware wallet allows you to manage cryptocurrencies securely with private keys never leaving the device. Before starting, ensure your Trezor device is genuine and purchased from an official reseller.

Visit Trezor.io/Start to download the official wallet software. Follow the on-screen instructions to begin initialization.

Initialize Your Device

Connect your Trezor to your computer via USB. Open the official Trezor web app or desktop app. Create a new wallet or recover an existing one if you have a recovery phrase. During initialization, the device will display a 12, 18, or 24-word recovery seed — write it down carefully and store it offline in a safe location.

Never store your recovery phrase digitally or share it online. This phrase is the only way to recover your funds if your device is lost or stolen.

Set Up PIN and Security Features

After writing down your recovery phrase, set up a PIN code for additional security. Your PIN prevents unauthorized access to the device. Optionally, enable passphrase protection for an extra layer of security, which acts as a hidden wallet linked to your Trezor.

Manage Your Cryptocurrency

Once setup is complete, you can add cryptocurrency accounts via the Trezor wallet app. Send and receive funds, monitor balances, and integrate with supported third-party applications. Always confirm every transaction on the Trezor device screen for maximum protection.

Follow best practices for backups and never expose your recovery seed. For detailed instructions, guides, and troubleshooting, refer to the official Trezor.io/Start page.

Additional Security Tips

For long-term safety, consider splitting funds across multiple wallets or using multi-signature wallets for high-value holdings. Keep firmware updated using only official Trezor sources. Avoid connecting your Trezor to untrusted computers or public networks.
